Douglas Dutton, Freelance Colourist

DOUGLAS DUTTON

Douglas Dutton is a Paris-based colourist working across commercials, music videos, documentaries, episodic series, short films, and video game cinematics. In 2024, he received the FilmLight Colour Award in the Emerging Talent category for “Baltic Harmonical Diffraction,” a commercial that transformed sharp DSLR imagery into the elegant texture of 16mm film. That same year, “Winona”—which he graded—won Best Music Video at the Berlin Music Video Awards.

His work includes collaborations with brands such as Adidas, Audemars Piguet, Porsche, Ferragamo, and Van Cleef & Arpels, as well as leading French artists like Mathieu Chedid, Pomme, Feder and Georgio.

With a background in TV production that took him around the world, Douglas developed a calm, adaptive approach to creative problem-solving in fast-paced environments.

He began his journey into moving images through DSLR filmmaking and street photography—shooting, lighting, editing, and grading his own projects. Over time, he discovered that colour grading was where his passion and precision aligned. Drawn to nuance, texture, and the weight of each frame, Douglas now works from his suite in Paris while collaborating remotely with post facilities and filmmakers worldwide.
