COLIN WANDERSMAN
Colin Wandersman is a French director of photography born in 1974.
As a child, he was influenced by the Spaghetti Westerns of Sergio Leone, which he discovered thanks to his father; and through films such as Apocalypse Now by Francis Ford Coppola.
After obtaining a degree in cinema at the University of Saint-Denis Paris VIII, Colin Wandersman worked for 10 years on film sets as electrician before becoming a gaffer. In parallel, he worked as a cinematographer on various fiction projects.
His encounter with director Barthélémy Grossmann in 2007 marked a turning point in his career, when the latter asked him to photograph his first feature film 13 m2. This film sealed the beginning of a long collaboration and friendship between the director and the cinematographer.
Afterwards, they worked together on three TV shows: season 2 of the series Lascars (2013), American Dream (2015), and Exposed (2016); and on two other feature films: Only To The Top (to be released in 2023), and Arthur Malédiction (2022). This last film allowed him to meet the director Luc Besson. Colin worked on his latest feature film DogMan, with the actor Caleb Landry Jones, to be released in 2023.
Colin Wandersman also made his way alongside director Lucien Jean-Baptiste, working on a series and three comedy features including Il A Déjà Tes Yeux (2016).
He has also worked on several short films such as the recent multi-award winning Les Princesses Font Ce Qu’Elles Veulent by Quarxx (2021), which received the Best
Photography Award at the International Horror Hotel Film Festival in 2022.
The cinematographer has also made a name for himself thanks to successful music videos for French artists such as Kery James, Florent Pagny, Vald, Nassi, Gaël Faye or L.E.J. He has also signed the visuals of more hybrid projects, such as the recent medium-length music film La Symphonie Du Temps Qui Passe directed by Le Turk (2021).
In advertising, brands such as Louis Vuitton, Le Printemps Du Cinéma, and Veolia have trusted him.
Colin Wandersman is a cinematographer who, in addition to his extensive knowledge of lighting and his boundless creativity, understands perfectly the workings of a film crew. He understands that the human relationships within a team are essential to obtain the best possible final result.
