ADAM NEWPORT-BERRA
Adam Newport-Berra is a cinematographer and director born and raised in the woods of Oregon, where he currently lives. A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Adam has built a diverse and celebrated body of work across narrative film, television, music videos, and commercial campaigns.
Adam’s visual storytelling has earned critical acclaim, with projects premiering at top festivals including Cannes, Sundance, Telluride, NYFF, TIFF, and SXSW. His breakthrough feature, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, premiered to wide acclaim at Sundance and went on to screen at the Camerimage Film Festival, earning praise for its striking, poetic imagery. Most recently, he lensed Splitsville, directed by Michael Angelo Covino, which premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. He is currently in post-production on Good Fortune, directed by Aziz Ansari, and The Invite, directed by Olivia Wilde.
In television, Adam is known for shooting Apple+’s The Studio (Season 1), the pilot of FX’s The Bear, the final two episodes of Euphoria Season 1, and the first two episodes of Amazon’s Outer Range. His work brings a distinctly human and immersive perspective to each frame, often celebrated for its emotional texture and naturalistic boldness.
Adam’s commercial collaborations include campaigns for Apple, Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein, and Guinness, earning multiple Cannes Lions. In the music video world, he’s partnered with artists like Kendrick Lamar, Adele, Miley Cyrus, and Kanye West, receiving multiple VMA nominations for Best Cinematography.
Named one of Variety’s “Artisans Elite” in 2019, Adam is driven by a strong collaborative ethos and a commitment to honoring each director’s vision while infusing his own visual signature. He is represented by CAA.
